We were already aware of the fact that she does not like to keep her socks or bows on while she sleeps, and will pull usually fall asleep with them on, but pull them off sometime during her nap. However, we usually just find them sitting next to her in the crib. But today I discovered that he has been dropping them behind her crib during nap time. I caught her in the act of shoving her socks between the bars of her crib and pushing them down along the wall, and when I went to retrieve them I found this lovely little stash.

The Case of the Missing Socks and Hair Bows
I have finally solved the case of the disappearing baby socks and hair bows. I can not even tell how many times I have wondered where in the world all of Madelynn's socks and hair bows keep disappearing to. I feel like I am going crazy every time I do the laundry and find that her stash of socks just keeps dwindling even though I keep buying more. I have also spent a lot of time wondering where hair bows go. I make most of them so I am pretty aware of what she has, and usually make duplicates, so when I could not find a single navy blue bow the other day I was baffled (since she has 3). I don't even want to think about how many times I have asked McKay where in the world Madelynn's hair bow has gone. Of course he usually has no idea. Well today I discovered Madelynn's dirty little secret.
We were already aware of the fact that she does not like to keep her socks or bows on while she sleeps, and will pull usually fall asleep with them on, but pull them off sometime during her nap. There were over a dozen pairs of socks back there! Along with half a dozen bows. Well now that I know her little secret the jig is up. She wont be able to confuse the heck out of her mommy, and I will no longer need to keep purchasing replacement socks! Aren't babies funny?

My how time flies
I was emptying a camera card that I found hidden in one of Madelynn's toy bins and chuckled inside to see how much things have changed in a year. Granted these photos were not taken exactly one year apart, more like 11 and a half months, but still, soooooo much changes so fast! The first picture was from the very first time eating "solid" food. I remember being slightly discouraged and worrying that Madelynn was never ever going to eat baby food, let alone real food!
Well here we are almost a year, 16 teeth and a whole lot of improved dexterity later, and not only does she eat solid food, she feeds it to herself! (even though she can't fed herself without making a huge mess) I love/hate seeing how much she is growing and changing. I am loving every minute of watching her grow up and she keeps growing in to a super cute, sweet, funny mischievous little girl, but I sure do miss that little baby.

15 months and an Earache
Today was Madelynn's 15 month appointment. It is always so crazy to me to see how little babies grow into little toddlers and then little kids. Madelynn is now 21.5 lbs and 30.5 inches tall. She has shot up 3 inches in the last three months! Our baby is growing up so fast.
I never like to take Madelynn to the Doctors because it always seems to involve some kind of needle, and at her 12 month appointment she had to have an IV and a blood draw and that did NOT go over well. She was cranky for days after and developed a rash. Luckily Madelynn's doctor is not a doctor, she is an APNP and is so friendly and personable. She amazes me with her ability to remember things about us and she is so sweet with Madelynn. She even remembered what outfit Madelynn was wearing at her appointment 3 months ago! Another awesome thing about her is that she gives the little kids a book to take home everytime they come in. We seriously lucked out with her.
Anyway, Madelynn ended up not having her shots today, which I was really thankful for, but the reason why is not very fun. It turns out that Madelynn has ear infections in both of her ears. I had absolutely no idea! She has been a little cranky and had a runny nose, but most of the signs and symptoms of an ear infection are absent. I feel kind of bad that I was so unaware. I also felt bad to be told that this could have started a month ago when she got really sick or 3 weeks ago when she was seriously teething. She could have been dealing witn this for a whole month with out me knowing it! I am definitely glad it was caught at her appointment. 10 days and a bunch of Amoxicillin from now we should be happy campers...until she actually does get her shots at her follow up appointment.
Here is a picture of Madelynn with her book at the doctors office.

The Box
For the last few weeks McKay and I have been trying to be serious about getting healthy and in shape. This time we are not just talking about it and eating healthy when we feel like and not really exercising like we have done before. We are eating well and actually exercising regularly for the first time in a long time. To help ourselves out we used some money that my dad sent us for Christmas to buy ourselves a stationary exercise bike. Merry Christmas to us in February! Well we are smart and ordered the bike on amazon. It was the best price and it had free shipping. That also meant that we had one super cool box show up on our doorstep with the bike and guess what? Madelynn loves boxes. She adopted one of the boxes that it came in and set up camp in it every day until we threw it away. It was just tall enough that it was a challenge for her to get in and out of. A challenge which she took more than willingly. I had to get rid of the box while she was sleeping because I didn't want to deal with the stream of tears I knew would come if she saw me carry it away. Well now that you know about the box, here are some pictures of it and my sweet baby girl.

Madelynn Dancing Gangnam Style
I don't know what it is about this song, but Madelynn can't help but move when she hears it. In the last month or so dancing has become one of her favorite things to do, but she does not like to let me catch it on camera. Usually when I pull a camera out all she wants to do is grab it and see the picture. I was glad she let me catch this much of it. My favorite is her little face when she recognizes the song. Kids are awesome! Madelynn is awesome! Enjoy her cute little baby dancing.

Playing in mommy's closet
Madelynn likes to get into mischief. I think all little kids do to some degree. Well since we decided to get down to business with the baby proofing of our house and put baby locks on basically every cabinet in our house she has been frustrated. Her very favorite thing to do everyday was empty out our cabinets. All of the kitchen cabinets, under the bathroom sink, our game cabinet, you name it, she would pull everything out. Now that they are all locked up with those awesome magnetic baby locks she has had to find some other mischief to get into.
Today that mischief was playing in mommy and daddy's closet. Even though it is Mckay's closet too she pretty much leaves his stuff alone. I guess his shoes aren't as pretty and his ties are not as cool as my scarves, but for whatever other reason she only goes after my things. I caught her pulling all of my shoes off the shelves and she tried pulling the scarves down but then decided that since mommy was there now, peekaboo would be a much better activity. I love this cute silly little girl. She makes life chaotic and so much fun.Madelynn and the tub of snow
Being the good mother that I am, I try to come up with ways to keep Madelynn entertained and try to introduce her to new things. So, I got the bright idea to go outside and scoop up a bunch of snow and let her play with it on our kitchen floor. Here is the video of what ensued. It did not end well. Granted, I did not think to take out the camera until she had been playing with it for almost 10 minutes and she was basically done with it. Her hands were probably pretty cold, but you can see for yourself.
